One-Day Victoria City Guide

Orcas Killer Whales Blowing, Victoria, Canada

Just a comfortable journey from downtown to downtown on the V2V Empress away, Victoria makes a fun day-trip destination. It’s always exciting to follow your nose but to ensure you don’t miss Victoria’s interesting spots after arriving there via our V2V Empress luxury cruise, we’ve created this one-day city guide.

Fisherman’s Wharf

Situated in Victoria’s Inner Harbour, Fisherman’s Wharf is a marine-side destination boasting float homes, fishing vessels, shops and food stands. There are many interesting shops to explore including the fish market where you can pick up items to cook upon your return to the mainland.

Next, head to the historic and renown Fairmont Empress hotel for high tea. Open since 1908, the hotel has welcomed royalty, dignitaries and celebrities, and has recently undergone a complete renovation.

The Royal BC Museum

You can’t take a ferry ride from Vancouver to Victoria without learning a little bit about the region’s history, so be sure to visit the Royal BC Museum. There, you will have the chance to view First Nations carvings, and learn about the mighty Vikings that made it to this part of the world.

Next, exit the museum and head left on Johnson Street where you’ll find the famous Market Square. Have lunch at one of the restaurants, such as Spinnaker’s Gastro Brewpub, where local beers are the stars.

Whale Watching

Incredible sea life exists in the waters in and around Victoria and a stop here is not complete without a trip to see porpoises, seals, eagles, herons, ospreys, orcas, humpbacks, and minke whales.

When you get back from your whale-watching adventure visit Clive’s Classic Lounge in the Chateau Victoria for some of the best cocktails in town.

When looking at your options for a day trip from Vancouver to Victoria consider taking a cruise such as the V2V Empress which will make your journey luxurious and comfortable.
