Heading to Vancouver? Heed these recommendations for making the most of your time in Lotus Land.

Start with History

Head to Historic Gastown where you will walk on brick roads, past trendy boutiques, furniture stores, and restaurants, and visit the historic, Instagram-worthy steam clock. Have coffee at East Van Roasters, and after a morning of meandering, head to Water Street Café for lunch.

Go for a Bike Ride

For a little afternoon activity, and some amazing views, rent bicycles and take a ride along the Vancouver seawall and around Stanley Park. Along the way you’ll pass many beaches and be rewarded with views of North Vancouver and the beautiful Lions Gate Bridge.

A Stroll Through Downtown

After returning your bikes, take the Skytrain to downtown Vancouver where you’ll be in the heart of the city’s shopping district. Head to Robson Street for great clothing, accessory and beauty choices and once you get tired have afternoon tea and pastries at Laurence and Chico café.

If shopping isn’t your thing, visit the Vancouver Art Gallery where international artists are featured and where a permanent Emily Carr exhibit is on display.

Before heading home, have dinner at L’Abattoir in Gastown. The renowned eatery, owned by chef Lee Cooper, has won many awards and featured ingredients from the region.

For after-dinner drinks, the mixologists at Pourhouse, the Alibi Room and The Diamond create inventive cocktails in the heart of Gastown.

Take a Day Trip to Victoria

Want to add a side-trip to your Vancouver adventure? Instead of taking BC Ferries from Vancouver to Victoria or taking a seaplane, take a journey on the V2V Empress, which offers return trips, downtown to downtown.
